Try To Exit

Try To Exit
Dream
May 9, 2013

I was in the pastor’s house and both the pastor and his wife were there to watch me. It was comfortable at first, but then it began to make me sleepy. I said, “I have to get out of here!” When I went to leave, I walked up to the front door of their church. I noticed it was rigged with all manner of alarms, trip devices, bells, church exit doorbuzzers, lights and cylinders with actuators. It was the most ridiculous design of an of alarm systems I had ever seen.

Immediately, I found myself surrounded by the entire church congregation with the pastor leading the charge; even the kids had been trained in the process that leaving is wrong. One person lit a firecracker and threw it in my path in an effort to scare me back from the exit door, but the firecracker just bounced harmlessly off the steps and fell away. I pushed on through their resistance and escaped, leaving all the frenzy behind.

If you want to know what church is really about just try and leaving one?

Churches make it is easy to enter and become a part of the fellowship. A person, couple or an entire family is welcomed with open arms. However, just like in the dream, when people try to leave the congregation, alarms are tripped, and the leadership mobilizes the congregation to take immediate actions in an attempt to prevent their exit. The tactics of intimidation are quickly acted out.  You’ll find yourself invited to hurriedly arranged meetings with the leader or his subordinates to find out what’s going on. Some of the tactics I experienced were:

  1. You are leaving your assignment! How does another person know what my assignment is? Only God knows what my assignment is and that it is my soul responsibility to seek Him and He will show me my path in life. Our true assignment is to be in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Jer 29:11-12
  2. The wheels will fall off if you leave! Really? If a person is in relationship with Christ and following Him, leaving man’s version of church (harlotry) is the right thing to do, especially when God reveals the harlotry of the church system to you as a believer.
  3. You may be told you, “You can’t be complete without a home church.” Joining a congregation, going to services, singing in the choir, being a board member, serving in a church, and so on, will not complete a person in any way whatsoever, only a personal relationship with Jesus Christ does that.
  4. “You will lose your covering!” Never has there been a more perverse doctrine than the covering doctrine. It is used to intimidate and control people when another person takes the position only reserved for Christ. Christ is our covering. There are great spiritual blessing, which may come from honoring follower believers who love Christ. Often, I have been given prophecies for another believer simply because they honored me and I had access to them. Other times, I was only shown what was going on in someone’s life to pray for them.  Interceding on behalf of others should be of the highest priority in our Christian walk, but these things are not to be used to gain control or make another person dependent of another person.

All these things are done in an attempt to gain back control over you. If niceness doesn’t work, then they shift to intimidation and if intimidation doesn’t work then they try and destroy you.

I saw many come and go over the course of time when attending churches, and each time the ones who remained were told how those who had left were leaving God’s assignment for their lives. The mud was slung pretty heavy upon that person for awhile until someone else left, and then the process repeated itself all over again on that person. Even dying may not excuse a person from being demonized for leaving the church. “They died to young because they didn’t stand in faith.”

I was told, “You are forsaking fellowship and the assembling yourself with other believers! First of all fellowship with the brethren can be found all through your daily walk when in the market or wherever your day may take you. The church (GK: ekklesia: called out ones) are everywhere. Apostle Paul is a great example of the sincere Christian walk of which no one would argue, but would you believe me if I told you he left a fellowship because it had become ungodly.

(Paul) And he entered the synagogue and continued speaking out boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God. But when some were becoming hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the people, he withdrew from them and took away the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus. This took place for two years, so that all who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks. Acts 19:8-10

Even apostle Paul forsook fellowship because they had become hard hearted, disobedient, and spoke evil of the Way before the people. There are times when a fellowship becomes so foul and ungodly that God requires a believer to leave. We have been sent into churches just watch, listen and learn what they do and how unscriptural their doctrines have become.

If you want to know what church is really about just try and leaving one? Everything changes as you suddenly find yourself shunned, besmirched, and openly derogated before the congregation. The people that had told you how much they loved you, only days before, may not ever speak to you again.

Churches took on the similarity of a cult around the end of the first century. As the early day apostles passed away certain people snuck in unaware with their own agenda. They exalted themselves above the others by taking titles such as apostle, bishop or pastor, prophet and made everything center around themselves; gaining power, money and influence by manipulating the people. Read Jude. It is no different today as they put attending and following their ministry on equal footing as being with Christ, but show cunning unwillingness from the leadership to grow and mature their followers. Instead the leaders perpetuate spiritual dependence upon themselves and their church. Many who attend churches never develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and therefore remain weak Christians. It is better for them not to leave the church system, for if the did; they would soon fall away from their form of religion and go back into the world. Leaving the church system may cost you family, friends, reputation, position, prestige, relevance, identity, validation, power, security and even your employment, but always follow God as He reveals truth to you and you will experience more freedom than you’ve ever known.

The Warnings of History to the Ungodly

Jude

1 Jude, a bond-servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James,

To those who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ: 2 May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you.

3 Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. 4 For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

5 Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, 7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

8 Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, and reject authority, and revile angelic majesties. 9 But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 But these men revile the things which they do not understand; and the things which they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed. 11 Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, and for pay they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam, and perished in the rebellion of Korah. 12 These are the men who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted; 13 wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam; wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever.

14 It was also about these men that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones, 15 to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” 16 These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.

Keep Yourselves in the Love of God

17 But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, 18 that they were saying to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” 19 These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting; 23 save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.

24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

2 Tim 4:14-15  Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds. 15 Be on guard against him yourself, for he vigorously opposed our teaching.

3 John 1:9

9 I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to be first among them, does not accept [f]what we say. 10 For this reason, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not receive the brethren, either, and he forbids those who desire to do so and puts them out of the church.
