The Good Book

The Good Book

Journal Entry Dream Date: 2/8/13

BibleSome close friends and family members had read a really good book that was timely, filled with simple truth, and so refreshing that is changed their life, and they wanted me to read it too. I took the book and began to read it and just as it did with them, it changed my life. The book was so enjoyable and brought everyone who read it great joy and happiness. It had great examples of life and explained things in a simple joyous way. It was truly the “Good Book”.

Then I walked into the church I used to attend and selected to sit by a young man I had mentored from time to time. He was sitting with his face to the wall, staring at three unlit communion candles, which were about one foot directly in front of him. He didn’t acknowledge that I was there due to his complete concentration on his religious duties. As I scooted by him to take my seat, I knocked the communion candles over. I chuckled inside with the sight of the religious ritual being disrupted. However, he quickly set the candles back up, refocused his concentration and starred away. Then I noticed that he was holding the same book I was reading in his left hand.

Then the preacher began to teach out of the “Good Book”. In fact He had the whole church reading the same book. However, the more he spoke the less I recognized the book I had so enjoyed.  I even questioned that he was reading the same book that I and my friends had just read. I said to myself “Who would want to read this book the way this man is teaching from it. He had taken away the simplistic message, all the joy, and the refreshing meaning away.”

Then I reached over to the man I had just sat down by and asked to look at the book. He gladly handed it to me. I just had to verify that this was the same book I had read. As I opened the cover, I immediately saw page after page of colorful, worldly material had been inserted into the original text. The pages were brightly colored, like that of the funny papers you get in the Sunday edition each week. Someone had added so much of their material to the “Good Book” that it had lost its ability to bring joy and refreshment to the reader. No one wanted to read it and there was no true joy among his congregation.

Then someone in leadership came up behind the man sitting beside me and poked him in the back and said, “Come with me.” Then the man in leadership pointed at the unlit communion candles and told me to sit there and watch the candles. As I continued to sat there and listened to the preacher preach about everything but the simple truths the “Good Book” has to offer, I saw why people had lost their joy. The meetings were no longer refreshing because they had left the simple truths. This man was preaching his own doctrine.

Hand ReachingThe Bible was given to mankind to instruct, refresh and bring great joy with its simple to understand and follow truths. When I say simple I don’t mean it in a disparaging way. Simple means easy to understand and follow. The Bible is filled with hundreds and hundreds of uplifting Psalms and promises which were given to mankind by Almighty God, so that we may prove out to be good, wise, fruitful servants of the most high God. To live out simple truths that aren’t burdensome. Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.” Oh what joy He is too!

Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body
And refreshment to your bones. Pro 3:5-8

Holy Spirit is our teacher and will illuminate spiritual truths found in the text to anyone who is seeking truth. On the other hand, man has chosen to lean to his own understanding, which by adding his own doctrines to the Bible, has taken away the refreshment that only simple truths can bring to your life. Are you tired of the “Ten Steps to Prosperity”? How about “Twenty Things to Do To Get Victory Activated In You Life”? These kinds of teaching are burdensome. Try, try as we may we can’t live by the letter of the word. We must live by the Spirit and be led by the Spirit each day. In so doing you begin to sense a small river of living water flowing from you to others. Oh how we need it!

Years ago when first starting out on this walk, I found my personal, daily walk so fun and refreshing. However, when I attended church and heard the message given by the preacher, I often left depressed, sad and condemned. The message wasn’t God’s message for the people, but man’s perverted doctrine which had been added spoken.

All the additions to the simple truth of the Bible, read The Additions | Walking In the Supernatural have taken away the joy and refreshing message away. It is estimated that there are over 38,000 denominations in America alone. Each one of them believes differently from the others, which means they have added their understanding to the simple truth.  There is only one truth and that is given to us by Holy Spirit.

Some years ago when studying about what true evangelism entails, I asked the Father what a church on every corner meant to Him. Immediately He responded with one word, “Division.”  Then I asked, “What is theology to you?” He responded with, “It is man’s attempt to explain what he doesn’t understand.”

Your joy and refreshing will come from an intimate, live, active relationship with Jesus Christ and learning to see Him and all the wonder of His creation throughout each day of your life. As you take the focus away from yourself and begin to focus on the needs of others you will begin to sense a refreshing joy come into your soul. When you are kind to others and lend a hand, even a cup of water to who thirst, it is the same as giving it to Jesus Christ.

The Challenge

Couple Holding Shopping BasketWhat if every church canceled one meeting a week? Each congregation was instructed not to come to church that day but instead take the money (they were going to give into the church system) and go find people in their family or community that need help and give it to them with no  alternative motive but to help. No intent to grow their congregation whatsoever, just help people. What a difference it will make in the people who give of themselves to others, even more than the ones who receive. Read The Abandoned Harvest

Some years ago, my wife and I volunteered to work in the needy children program in our city. We would box up food, along with some nice toys and take the goods to the needy family on our distribution list. This was our holiday fun event each Christmas. On one particular trip we took a large amount of toys and food to some kids who were were in the care of their grandmother due to their mother being in prison.

We parked in front of their house and I grabbed the bags of toys and began walking towards the house. The kids were excited to see us and came running out of the house directly at us. I was dismayed when the kids ran past me, and my booty of toys, and went to my wife which was caring some of the bags of groceries. The oldest child said, “Now that’s what I’m talking about!” Kids not interested in toys? What is this? I’d never seen such hungry kids. They wanted food more than toys? This really touched us. We didn’t know kids were going hungry in America.

We left there and went back to the administrator of the program and told her that this family needed more food that we brought to them. As it ended up we made another trip that day, taking more food to these hungry little souls. They even put the family on a weekly grocery program so they wouldn’t go hungry.

The feeling of giving and helping others brought such a warm, loving, joyous meaning to our lives. So, If you want refreshing and joy to return to your Christian walk, then find the heart of Jesus Christ and Father God and go help souls in your family and your own community. Take what’s in your power to do and put it in the hands of those in need.

What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. But someone may well say, “You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works.” James 2:15-18

May it be so!

Scripture References:

Thus says the LORD, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the LORD. Jer. 9:23-24

They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness. The LORD [is] gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. Ps, 145:7-8

Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners: The LORD openeth [the eyes of] the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:The LORD preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down. Ps. 146:7-9

“And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I
say to you, he shall not lose his reward.” Mat. 10:42

Therefore do not go on passing judgment before the time, but wait until the Lord comes who will both bring to light the things hidden in the darkness and disclose the motives of men’s hearts; and then each man’s praise will come to him from God. 1 Cor. 4:5 (note…in this verse darkness means the secret areas where you good deeds are hidden where only God can see them. It’s not an evil darkness at all.)

  • The Footsteps of Angels

    Footsteps of Angels

    Journal Entry
    Date: 12/28/2012

heb 1_14It was around 10:30 A.M. on a Tuesday and I was in my office, which is located upstairs in our home. I was working on a video production for a client when all of sudden, I heard the sound of what sounded like angels running around on the roof. The pace and urgency of the footsteps sounded if there were two angels engaged in warfare of some kind with another being of some sort. What it was I can’t be for sure. It just seemed in my spirit that this was what it was about. The footsteps only lasted about 10 seconds and then all was quiet once again.

Note* Our roof has a 1:1 pitch ratio, which means for every horizontal foot the elevation rises in by 1 foot making it impossible for anyone to be up there running around.

If we could only see the amazing host of angels that are all about us every day to render aid and provide ministry to us when we need it. And, not only to just the saints but to the ones whom have not yet acknowledged Jesus as Lord. I had a follow up dream to this experience which is titled “The Attack” and you can read at The Attack

Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” And the LORD opened the servant’s eyes and he saw; and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. 2 Kings 6:17

Jesus Christ died for mankind and His blood was sprinkled on the altar in heaven for all mankind. It is His desire that none should perish.

“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. John 10:27-28

When I repented, I had to know from the Father why He allowed me to live when I was such a sinner and wayward for so many years. I had experienced many situations in which I should have died but each time I came out unharmed and very alive. Morning after morning, I continued to raise the question before Him, “Why did you not wipe me off the face of the earth Father? One morning, He responded, “Love is eternal.”  There is was as plain as could be. The character of God is love and it is not the human kind of love which has so many condition attached to it. This is God’s kind of love which makes no distinction due to our human conditions or deeds. He even loves those who have rejected Him.

    Spiritual Warfare

Just because we can’t see the angels which surround us doesn’t mean that they are not there. Indeed they are all about us.

Are they not all ministering spirits, sent out to render service for the sake of those who will inherit salvation? Heb. 1:14

If it wasn’t for angels defending the saints, evil would be able to wipe us out even before we knew we were in danger. It would be that fast. WHAM…YOUR DEAD! But with angelic intervention we often have no idea that an attack even occurred. It just happened on this particular morning that I was allowed to hear the angel’s footsteps running around hastily on the roof, defending me from evil. The battle was short lived since God’s angels are so much mighty than we are.

“Whereas angels who are greater in might and power do not bring a reviling judgment against them before the Lord.” 2 Peter 2:11

We live in such a broken world and there is evil all about us daily. Hidden in the carnage of life there are many miracles occurring every second of the day. It has been that way since the beginning of man.

The living and loving God said to me, “Love is Eternal.” That’s the Father I know and love because He first loved me.

  • For Such A Time As This

Dream: For Such a Time as This
    Date: 4/5/2012

Jae and I were standing in an open field facing a man playing a guitar and singing, “for such a time as this, for such a time as this.” He kept repeating the same phrase over and over again. “For such a time as this, for such a time as this.” There were only a few people in the same field with us and they didn’t seem to be listening to him.  I watched them slowly walk away.

    – End of Dream

graffitiAfterwards, I awoke up and kept hearing the words “for such a time as this” over and over in my head. I didn’t know what it meant, but kept seeking the Lord about it. Sometime later, I typed the words into Google and the search engine responded with “Wayne Watson – FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS – LYRICS.

As I read the lyrics, I immediately wanted to hear Wayne Watson’s song. I clicked on YouTube and found several videos of the song. As I listened intently to Wayne perform the song, I wept and rejoiced all at the same time, caught up in the moment with Holy Spirit. The words rang so true in my heart. The time is short and the window is closing on this age. Those who don’t come in soon will find themselves hopelessly lost forever. Who’s going to show them Christ’s nature, His character and give them His love?

I believe the Lord is calling out to this generation of Christians to return to sober mindedness, and think about why and how you are living at this place in time. We must be clear-headed, and press into God to hear His voice and do whatever He asks of us. I believe most people don’t want to hear what God has to say to them simply because they are afraid He will ask them to do something they don’t want to do. Imagine how ineffective an army would be if they refused to listen to the instructions from the highest generals because they might ask them to do something they didn’t want to do. I know that sounds ludicrous but are we not treating the Father that way now? By not seeking Him we are refusing His Lordship over our life. By not spending time with Him we are walking in a proud and haughty manner. We are to walk humbly “with” our God and that means submission to His will for our lives daily.

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matt 5:14-16

Saints of God, we must reevaluate our priorities and consider what it means if we call ourselves “Christian”. I believe the verses below provide a look into what a Christian life should look like.

“Then when he arrived and witnessed the grace of God, he rejoiced and began to encourage them all with resolute heart to remain true to the Lord; for he was a good man, and full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And considerable numbers were brought to the Lord. V26 and when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. And for an entire year they met with the church and taught considerable numbers; and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.” Acts 11:23-24, 26

The call has been made saints time after time and to every generation. Jesus is beginning to assemble His bride unto Himself. The invitation has been given to whosoever will humble themselves before the Lord, leave their comfort zone, and follow after Him. Then and only then will you find the true gospel living inside of your heart, shinning for the whole world to see.

The call is to return to the simplicity of your first love, and regain the passion you once had for lost souls. It’s time to deny oneself and follow after Jesus to wherever He leads and do what He shows you to do with all your heart.

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. John 16:24

Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.  “Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” Mat. 9:37-38

Song Title: For Such A Time As This
    Writer(s): WATSON, WAYNE
Now, all I have is now
    To be faithful
    To be holy
    And to shine

    Lighting up the darkness
Right now, I really have no choice
But to voice the truth to the nations
    A generation looking for God

For such a time as this
I was placed upon the earth
To hear the voice of God
    And do His will
    Whatever it is
For such a time as this
For now and all the days He gives
I am here, I am here
    And I am His
For such a time as this

You, Do you ever wonder why
Seems like the grass is always greener
    Under everybody else’s sky
But right here, right here for this time and place
You can live a mirror of His mercy
    A forgiven image of grace

Can’t change what’s happened till now
But we can change what will be
    By living in holiness
That the world will see Jesus

  • The Prophet Pt. 1

Often I receive inquiries about the prophet/seer and I hope you see why we need this ministry gift operating freely in the Church today. If it were only so…

The prophet in his day is fully accepted of God and totally rejected by men.

prophet 3Years back, Dr. Gregory Mantle was right when he said, “No man can be fully accepted until he is totally rejected.” The prophet of the Lord is aware of both these experiences. They are his “brand name.”

The group, challenged by the prophet because they are smug and comfortably insulated from a perishing world in their warm but untested theology; is not likely to vote him ”Man of the year” when he refers to them as habituates of the synagogue of Satan!

The prophet comes to set up that which is upset. His work is to call into line those who are out of line! He is unpopular because he opposes the popular in morality and spirituality. In a day of faceless politicians and voiceless preachers, there is not a more urgent national need than that we cry to God for a prophet! The Function of the prophet, as Austin-Sparks once said, “has almost always been that of recovery.”

The prophet is God’s detective seeking for a lost treasure. The degree of his effectiveness is determined by his measure of unpopularity. Compromise is not known to him.

    He has no price tags.

    He is totally ”otherworldly.”

He is unquestionably controversial and unpardonably hostile.

    He marches to another drummer!

He breathes the rarefied air of inspiration.

He is a “seer” who comes to lead the blind.

prophet 2He lives in the heights of God and comes into the valley with a “thus saith the Lord.”

He shares some of the foreknowledge of God and so is aware of impending judgment.

    He lives in “splendid isolation.”

He is forthright and outright, but he claims no birthright.

His message is “repent, be reconciled to God or else…!”

    His prophecies are parried.

His truth brings torment, but his voice is never void.

He is the villain of today and the hero of tomorrow.

He is excommunicated while alive and exalted when dead!

He is dishonored with epithets when breathing and honored with epitaphs when dead.

He is a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ, but few “make the grade” in his class.

He is friendless while living and famous when dead.

He is against the establishment in ministry; then he is established as a saint by posterity.

He eats daily the bread of affliction while he ministers, but he feeds the Bread of life to those who listen.

He walks before men for days but has walked before God for years.

He is a scourge to the nation before he is scourged by the nation.

    He announces, pronounces, and denounces!

prophet 1He has a heart like a volcano and his words are as fire.

He talks to men about God.

He carries the lamp of truth amongst heretics while he is lampooned by men.

He faces God before he faces men, but he is self-effacing.

He hides with God in the secret place, but he has nothing to hide in the marketplace.

He is naturally sensitive but supernaturally spiritual.

He has passion, purpose and pugnacity.

He is ordained of God but disdained by men.
