The Prodigal’s Father

The Prodigal’s Father

Date: 11/19/2013

As believers we are most likely familiar with the parable about the prodigal son (LK 15:11:32). The son demanded his share of his father’s estate, the equivalency of declaring his father dead, only to journey off into a distant country where he lived a foolish and frivolous lifestyle. Eventually, he spent all his inheritance and came to the realization that even the servants in his father’s house had it better than he now had it. He then returned home and was accepted with open arms and a kiss from his father, and they all lived happily ever after. This parable has been taught and expounded upon from the view point of the son whom left, and the son who stayed with his father, but I would like to show you something more about this beautiful story. I would like to share with you the prodigal’s fathers view point.

I recently experienced this parable from a different perspective than ever before. I had always seen the parable of the prodigal son from the son’s perspective for indeed I have been a prodigal son much of my life. However, the Father had another lesson to teach me and I hope you learn it too.

OINCEAbout five years ago my wife and I were walking home from teaching a Christian singles group at a neighborhood coffee shop when we spotted a tiny orange kitten trying her best to escape the grabby little hands of three boys. One of the boys quickly grabbed the cat, wrapping his hands around its abdomen from behind, and chaotically ran back in the house, closing the door behind them. We sighed at the poor little kitty’s distress and to the fact we both wanted to rescue that orange tiny kitten from those wild-acting boys.

About six months later, the family, which had the tiny orange kitten, moved out and left the little orange cat behind. As fate would have it, the tiny orange cat found its way to our home, which is only two doors down from where we originally spotted those boys tormenting the little orange creation. We just happened to be in our backyard that day, when suddenly, a hungry, tiny orange malnourished cat came walking into our lives. It was her! It was the tiny little orange kitten we had seen six months prior, two doors down. We quickly grabbed her up and took a closer look. We discovered she had been physically abused by those boys because she didn’t like having her abdomen touched. She will try to bite you if you do even to this day. We also discovered that tail had been broken at the base of the tail. She was malnourished and underweight for her age. She was barely alive. She got her name when the granddaughter saw her orange color but couldn’t pronounce the word “Orange”, but she could say “Oince”, so the named stuck ever since, Oince.

Recently, another cat came into her yard which resulted in a fight between the rogue cat and Oince. Since Oince is small, I often go out to run the offending intruders away. Oince always feels so brave when I am out in front of her scaring away the evil intruder. Well, last Tuesday, I heard cats fighting near the den window, so I went out with a flashlight in hand and ran a black cat out of the yard. However, Oince ran out from under a pepper plant with sheer terror in her eyes. I could see it on her face! I said, “Oh no! She thinks I attacked her.” I tried to console her with a soft voice, but she would have none of it. She apparently had received some wounds from the other cat during the fight. Somehow, in the traumatic events Oince got confused and believed that I was the one who attacked her. She climbed over the backyard gate and left. We saw her the next day in the neighbor’s yard but when we tried to examine her she wanted to bite and then she slipped away. She was gone.

Over the previous six months, the Lord had shown me in several dreams that Oince would leave us and that she would be driven out of her yard. The very yard she loved and had flourished in for five years. The night before the cat fight happened I was given a dream that showed she was about to leave. I just didn’t know that it would be because of me. My heart was broken as I saw her walking down the sidewalk towards the direction she had originally come. She would not respond to our calls. As the dreams had shown me, Oince had left us.

We had given her the best of care. When ill, or wounded from a cat fight, we made sure we took her to the veterinarian for treatment. We always fed her a good nutritious diet, put a collar on her, and have rigged up an insulated box with a heating pad inside, for her to sleep in during the cold winter nights. We had given her our love, our care, but now it didn’t seem to matter now. She had left it all behind.

The weather had turned very cold with nightly temperatures below freezing which made searching the neighborhood looking for the little orange cat all the more important. I was just hoping to get a peek of her so I would know she is still alive and perhaps bring her home.

Then the Father spoke into my heart and said, “Do you feel the pain I feel when my children leave me after all I have done to love them, care for them and give them all that is mine? Do you feel what it’s like to get blamed for the bad things that happen to people in the world when others do them harm although I am innocent of harming anyone?” I carried His words inside me for days pondering the parable of the prodigal son.

Oince SleepingOince returned early Sunday morning after being gone for four days. She was weak from being hungry, dirty and cold, but at least she was alive and we were excited to see her. Cats, when afraid or wounded, will into hiding because they feel vulnerable, sometimes dying where you never can find them. We fed her and kept her inside in a pet carrier overnight due to the cold night outside and to make sure she rested. When morning came we fed her, opened the door and out she went to potty. Afterwards she climbed over the gate and left us again. The very yard she loved to lie in the sun in and patrol as she was a big jungle cat protecting her domain. Once again, she walked down that sidewalk, disappearing from our view but leaving our hearts torn and our souls unsettled.

Again, I saw the Father repeating the lesson to me of the prodigal son from the Father’s point of view. I never realized nor thought about His heart when I left him many years ago as a young Christian and blamed it all on Him when a preacher disciplined me, blaming me for not keeping the deacon’s children quiet during Sunday school. The walls of the church were so thin you could hear every classroom in the building all at the same time. I did my best to keep the boys under control but they were just unruly boys. The one the pastor should have been speaking with was deacon who spawned those creatures. I blamed God for what the preacher did to me and left that church and didn’t won’t anything to do with God.

Many years past and eventually I repented, and just like the prodigal son had found himself in a horrible place in life, so did I. I returned to God, filthy, torn, and corrupted in just about every way. He accepted me back with open arms and had to wash me over and over again to get the filthy, dirty world off of me.  We walked together and I lived before Him daily but once again offense would come my way. “Blessed is he who does not take offense at Me.” Luke 7:23

A few years previous, the Father began to show me revelation about the harlotry of the church system. How vulgar and evil it is to God for His children to be caught up in a relationship to a system instead of being in relationship with Him. I posted these revelations on the Seer of God website and they were read by my pastor, who in turn showed them to my employer and shortly afterward I was let go from my employment but not before they made it very personal.  The Father showed me in advance things the pastor would do and say, even the timing of it, but knowing that didn’t lessen the pain of being betrayed by someone you had trusted and served. The reason he did what he did are dark and hidden in his heart except to God. Revelation can be a terrifying thing for any established religious person. The Pharisees killed Jesus because He was a threat to their livelihood. The revelation I had been given and too many other saints of the harlot church system remains a threat to today’s religious system.

“Then I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, · my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive her plagues;” Rev. 18:4

I didn’t want it to go down like it did. I tried every way to avoid hurting anyone but the pastors and my employer wouldn’t have it that way. The religious will stop at nothing to protect their livelihood just as the mafia will eliminate anyone who gets out of line. I found myself corned in their ambush meetings, vilified, shunned, betrayed, and quickly let go from my employment all because of what I wrote about the harlotry of the church system. AGAIN, I found myself ousted from the church system.

I let the pain of it cause me to pull back from the Father. One morning in quiet time He asked me a question. “Would you still recommend this walk to someone?” I couldn’t answer Him because I didn’t feel like I could recommend this walk to another soul on earth. I asked Him, “Why did it have to go down like it did?” He responded only with, “Psalms 23:4.”

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me;” Ps. 23:4

Those words spoken in Psalms 23:4 began the healing process. Even though it was ugly in the valley and some of the darkest of days in my life and for my family, the Almighty was telling me that He was there with me through the entire matter. He had forewarned me in several dreams that they were going to do what they did but it was still so painful to walk through. Whither we like it or not God orchestrates our circumstances both big and small. If He will allow His Son Jesus to be bruised how can we expect to live a painless life?

I never thought about how His heart felt in the matter. Then Oince, that little five pound ball of orange fur, got in a scrap with another cat and blamed me for hurting her. She left us after loving her with all our heart; after all we had done for her. The backyard, which she had lived in so happily was now amazingly empty and the window sill she hopped onto daily now silent of activity.

IMG_4125I repented to my Father of hurting His heart. I embraced the Father once again. I had forgotten who I am created to be in Christ. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and that makes us kings and lords (sons) of the MOST HIGH on this earth. Just be before midnight, I walked out into the backyard that she had formerly occupied and spoke as a king, as a lord, as son of the living LORD. I declared the problem; “Lord, Oince is wounded in soul and body and she blames me for what happened. I have done nothing but love and care for her. She belongs in her yard to live out her days as long as we are here.” Then I spoke the blessing out loud, while standing in the backyard. “My herd is blessed and my flocks are blessed and I call Oince back to me. I call her back to her yard where she is to live and prosper. I call her back with her wounded soul healed and with total restoration of our relationship. Amen”

The next morning, Thanksgiving Day, before I awoke I saw in a dream Oince lying in her backyard, resting in the sun with her eyes closed. I walked past her and she no longer ran away from me. I awoke so happy because of the beautiful dream I had just experienced. Later that morning around 8:30 a.m. my wife and I were standing in the den looking out the window where Oince always jumped up on the window sill. Suddenly, Oince appeared but not like the days before, she had a frisky demeanor and by the expression on her face and we knew immediately, God had restored her to us. She was back to stay, although weak from days without food or warmth, she was back. Our troubled souls immediately settled for the first time in nine days. Our Father had done a miracle for Oince and us. He is the God of Restoration!

What a life lesson I had to walk out nine days of a pain like I had never experienced before.  The Father wanted to me understand how much it hurts Him when people blame Him for their pain, when bad things happen to them, especially the pain caused deliberately by others. I had to feel the hurt of the pain when someone you loved turns against you and leaves you when you done nothing but love and care for them. We truly are made in His image. If our hearts can hurt and indeed they can, then so can God’s. I hurt God!

5 Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 6 The Lord was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. Genesis 6:5

“…In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.” John 16:23

“strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith, and saying, “Through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.” Acts 14:22

The Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32)

11 And He said, “A man had two sons. 12 The younger of them said to his father, ‘Father, give me the share of the estate that falls to me.’ So he divided his wealth between them. 13 And not many days later, the younger son gathered everything together and went on a journey into a distant country, and there he squandered his estate with loose living. 14 Now when he had spent everything, a severe famine occurred in that country, and he began to be impoverished. 15 So he went and hired himself out to one of the citizens of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 And he would have gladly filled his stomach with the pods that the swine were eating, and no one was giving anything to him. 17 But when he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired men have more than enough bread, but I am dying here with hunger! 18 I will get up and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in your sight; 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me as one of your hired men.”’ 20 So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 But the father said to his slaves, ‘Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet; 23 and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate; 24 for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.’ And they began to celebrate.

25 “Now his older son was in the field, and when he came and approached the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 And he summoned one of the servants and began inquiring what these things could be. 27 And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has received him h back safe and sound.’ 28 But he became angry and was not willing to go in; and his father came out and began pleading with him. 29 But he answered and said to his father, ‘Look! For so many years I have been serving you and I have never neglected a command of yours; and yet you have never given me a young goat, so that I might celebrate with my friends; 30 but when this son of yours came, who has devoured your wealth with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him.’ 31 And he said to him, ‘Son, you have always been with me, and all that is mine is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate and rejoice, for this brother of yours was dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been found.’”

  • Doctrine Kills

    Title: Doctrine Kills

I was with one of my granddaughter along with my wife. We were just arriving at a large building where a meeting was in progress. As I unloaded our luggage, the granddaugher said, “Why do they want to kill me?”  I said, “The Muslims? You have to understand their hate for the infidels. If you will not convert they will behead you!” Then we walked up to the main door of the building where the meeting was taking place and I heard the pastor say, “You must commit and believe in our doctrine and if you do it will work for you.”

See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. Col. 2:8

The doctrines and philosophy of men kill. They bring divisions and separate us from God. All the world’s religions teach their doctrine instead of Jesus Christ and Him crucified. A person can know a religion’s doctrine but not know Christ. It is impossible to know Christ through doctrine. We put or eternal salvation at risk when we only know doctrine. Doctrines KILL! Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. John 10:10

During Jesus’ ministry on earth He continually interacted with people, meeting them on personal level as He served His Father, doing the Father’s will, attending to each individual’s needs on a personal level. Did Jesus minister doctrine when He was casting out seven demons from Mary Magdalene? Did Jesus minister doctrine to the blind man or did he spit and make some mud then rub it on the man’s eyes and tell him to go and wash his eyes in the pool of Siloam? Did Jesus minister doctrine to the woman at the well? Ten lepers approached Jesus from a distance and cried out to be healed. Were they required to learn a doctrine first or be indoctrinated into a religion before they were healed? In Jesus’ earthly ministry, He ministered from compassion, kindness, gentleness, humility and with patience. Jesus’ doctrine was that if you see Him you have seen the father.

“He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.” Col 1:15

The Greek word for image is “GK1501 – eikon”, which means an image, figure, likeness. When we look at the sun’s reflection in the water we know that the source is that of the sun. Jesus the Son, was and is the reflection of the Father for all mankind. Christ is asking us to be His reflection to this world. People are hurting in this broken down world and they don’t need doctrine; they need the love of God given to them through our hands.

Take a look at this chart to better understand what doctrine has done to the simple message of the gospel of Christ. It is estimated that there are of 41,000 Christian denominations alone. Doctrines kill. Christianity-Branches-2013update

But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth.1 Tim. 4:1-3

Paul wrote “And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.  As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ, from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by what every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love. Eph. 4:11-16

It’s about RELATIONSHIP with Jesus Christ!!!!

    Doctrine Kills!

  • Try To Exit

    Try To Exit
    May 9, 2013

I was in the pastor’s house and both the pastor and his wife were there to watch me. It was comfortable at first, but then it began to make me sleepy. I said, “I have to get out of here!” When I went to leave, I walked up to the front door of their church. I noticed it was rigged with all manner of alarms, trip devices, bells, church exit doorbuzzers, lights and cylinders with actuators. It was the most ridiculous design of an of alarm systems I had ever seen.

Immediately, I found myself surrounded by the entire church congregation with the pastor leading the charge; even the kids had been trained in the process that leaving is wrong. One person lit a firecracker and threw it in my path in an effort to scare me back from the exit door, but the firecracker just bounced harmlessly off the steps and fell away. I pushed on through their resistance and escaped, leaving all the frenzy behind.

If you want to know what church is really about just try and leaving one?

Churches make it is easy to enter and become a part of the fellowship. A person, couple or an entire family is welcomed with open arms. However, just like in the dream, when people try to leave the congregation, alarms are tripped, and the leadership mobilizes the congregation to take immediate actions in an attempt to prevent their exit. The tactics of intimidation are quickly acted out.  You’ll find yourself invited to hurriedly arranged meetings with the leader or his subordinates to find out what’s going on. Some of the tactics I experienced were:

    1. You are leaving your assignment! How does another person know what my assignment is? Only God knows what my assignment is and that it is my soul responsibility to seek Him and He will show me my path in life. Our true assignment is to be in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Jer 29:11-12
    2. The wheels will fall off if you leave! Really? If a person is in relationship with Christ and following Him, leaving man’s version of church (harlotry) is the right thing to do, especially when God reveals the harlotry of the church system to you as a believer.
    3. You may be told you, “You can’t be complete without a home church.” Joining a congregation, going to services, singing in the choir, being a board member, serving in a church, and so on, will not complete a person in any way whatsoever, only a personal relationship with Jesus Christ does that.
    4. “You will lose your covering!” Never has there been a more perverse doctrine than the covering doctrine. It is used to intimidate and control people when another person takes the position only reserved for Christ. Christ is our covering. There are great spiritual blessing, which may come from honoring follower believers who love Christ. Often, I have been given prophecies for another believer simply because they honored me and I had access to them. Other times, I was only shown what was going on in someone’s life to pray for them.  Interceding on behalf of others should be of the highest priority in our Christian walk, but these things are not to be used to gain control or make another person dependent of another person.

All these things are done in an attempt to gain back control over you. If niceness doesn’t work, then they shift to intimidation and if intimidation doesn’t work then they try and destroy you.

I saw many come and go over the course of time when attending churches, and each time the ones who remained were told how those who had left were leaving God’s assignment for their lives. The mud was slung pretty heavy upon that person for awhile until someone else left, and then the process repeated itself all over again on that person. Even dying may not excuse a person from being demonized for leaving the church. “They died to young because they didn’t stand in faith.”

I was told, “You are forsaking fellowship and the assembling yourself with other believers! First of all fellowship with the brethren can be found all through your daily walk when in the market or wherever your day may take you. The church (GK: ekklesia: called out ones) are everywhere. Apostle Paul is a great example of the sincere Christian walk of which no one would argue, but would you believe me if I told you he left a fellowship because it had become ungodly.

(Paul) And he entered the synagogue and continued speaking out boldly for three months, reasoning and persuading them about the kingdom of God. But when some were becoming hardened and disobedient, speaking evil of the Way before the people, he withdrew from them and took away the disciples, reasoning daily in the school of Tyrannus. This took place for two years, so that all who lived in Asia heard the word of the Lord, both Jews and Greeks. Acts 19:8-10

Even apostle Paul forsook fellowship because they had become hard hearted, disobedient, and spoke evil of the Way before the people. There are times when a fellowship becomes so foul and ungodly that God requires a believer to leave. We have been sent into churches just watch, listen and learn what they do and how unscriptural their doctrines have become.

If you want to know what church is really about just try and leaving one? Everything changes as you suddenly find yourself shunned, besmirched, and openly derogated before the congregation. The people that had told you how much they loved you, only days before, may not ever speak to you again.

Churches took on the similarity of a cult around the end of the first century. As the early day apostles passed away certain people snuck in unaware with their own agenda. They exalted themselves above the others by taking titles such as apostle, bishop or pastor, prophet and made everything center around themselves; gaining power, money and influence by manipulating the people. Read Jude. It is no different today as they put attending and following their ministry on equal footing as being with Christ, but show cunning unwillingness from the leadership to grow and mature their followers. Instead the leaders perpetuate spiritual dependence upon themselves and their church. Many who attend churches never develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and therefore remain weak Christians. It is better for them not to leave the church system, for if the did; they would soon fall away from their form of religion and go back into the world. Leaving the church system may cost you family, friends, reputation, position, prestige, relevance, identity, validation, power, security and even your employment, but always follow God as He reveals truth to you and you will experience more freedom than you’ve ever known.

    Scripture References

The Warnings of History to the Ungodly

1 Jude, a bond-servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James,

To those who are the called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ: 2 May mercy and peace and love be multiplied to you.

3 Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints. 4 For certain persons have crept in unnoticed, those who were long beforehand marked out for this condemnation, ungodly persons who turn the grace of our God into licentiousness and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

5 Now I desire to remind you, though you know all things once for all that the Lord, after saving a people out of the land of Egypt, subsequently destroyed those who did not believe. 6 And angels who did not keep their own domain, but abandoned their proper abode, He has kept in eternal bonds under darkness for the judgment of the great day, 7 just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the cities around them, since they in the same way as these indulged in gross immorality and went after strange flesh, are exhibited as an example in undergoing the punishment of eternal fire.

8 Yet in the same way these men, also by dreaming, defile the flesh, and reject authority, and revile angelic majesties. 9 But Michael the archangel, when he disputed with the devil and argued about the body of Moses, did not dare pronounce against him a railing judgment, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 But these men revile the things which they do not understand; and the things which they know by instinct, like unreasoning animals, by these things they are destroyed. 11 Woe to them! For they have gone the way of Cain, and for pay they have rushed headlong into the error of Balaam, and perished in the rebellion of Korah. 12 These are the men who are hidden reefs in your love feasts when they feast with you without fear, caring for themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, doubly dead, uprooted; 13 wild waves of the sea, casting up their own shame like foam; wandering stars, for whom the black darkness has been reserved forever.

14 It was also about these men that Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord came with many thousands of His holy ones, 15 to execute judgment upon all, and to convict all the ungodly of all their ungodly deeds which they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” 16 These are grumblers, finding fault, following after their own lusts; they speak arrogantly, flattering people for the sake of gaining an advantage.

Keep Yourselves in the Love of God

17 But you, beloved, ought to remember the words that were spoken beforehand by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ, 18 that they were saying to you, “In the last time there will be mockers, following after their own ungodly lusts.” 19 These are the ones who cause divisions, worldly-minded, devoid of the Spirit. 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting anxiously for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. 22 And have mercy on some, who are doubting; 23 save others, snatching them out of the fire; and on some have mercy with fear, hating even the garment polluted by the flesh.

24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the presence of His glory blameless with great joy, 25 to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.

2 Tim 4:14-15  Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm; the Lord will repay him according to his deeds. 15 Be on guard against him yourself, for he vigorously opposed our teaching.

    3 John 1:9

9 I wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes, who loves to be first among them, does not accept [f]what we say. 10 For this reason, if I come, I will call attention to his deeds which he does, unjustly accusing us with wicked words; and not satisfied with this, he himself does not receive the brethren, either, and he forbids those who desire to do so and puts them out of the church.

  • The Charismatic

    Journal Entry Dream –

    Title: The Charismatic

I was sitting on the back row between two ladies in a charismatic church service. The lady sitting to my left showed me a book that she was reading. I opened it up and read the majority of it really fast and said, “It has some good things in there (so as not to be rude), but that’s not it.” The lady on my right gave me her book and I read it and gave it back to her as I shook my head and said, “That’s not it at all.”

the long roadThe band began to lead the worship time and immediately all the people lifted up their hands up as they sang because that is what charismatics do. You don’t look like you are worshiping or will you appear very spiritual unless you lift your hands during the praise and worship service. As I listened to the people sing I was quite taken back when they lifted their voices at the chorus:

    It’s a long damn road

    It’s a long damn road

    It’s a long damn road

Oh it’s a long damn road

I cracked up as they sang it. I joined in with them since I understood why they were singing these words. After the service a man came up to me and I asked him, “How did you like the service? He responded, “I didn’t like it at all!” I replied, “Perhaps you just aren’t used to it?”

As shocking as this dream may be too those who read it, it is a truth being revealed in these last days. Christ is calling out His bride unto Himself and to as many as will listen, He says, “Come! Come out from among them.” The Greek word for “church” is ekklesia which means “called out ones”. Chuch isn’t a building. It is a group of believers called unto Jesus Christ. There are no walls or separation from one another or Chirst. Read The Adulterous Church:

The charismatic churches were birthed out of believers seeking a spiritual refreshing which was not found in the traditional church system. They wanted to be spirit-led believers and see the gifts of the Spirit in action. In the beginning of the movement the Spirit did lead them into some truths. However, in time the movement became stagnant and misguided focusing more on self than the leading of the Spirit. Today, most charismatics live more in past experiences than in today’s life in Christ experiences. One reason there is so much HYPE generated in the organized churches today is an effort to convince the congregation that the Spirit is moving when it is not. If Holy Spirit is moving you don’t have to tell people that the Spirit is moving, they will know for themselves.

The charismatic is taught that they can obtain the things of God’s Kingdom if you just “work the WORD.” If you or someone needs a healing then you “work the WORD.” If you need a blessing in your life then you find a verse that supports your cause and you “work the WORD” until you see it manifest. The people are taught that if they keep confessing and confessing the WORD that somehow it will get into your spirit and you will get whatever it is that you need to get, and if it doesn’t manifest then the person isn’t doing it correctly. No one can manipulate God no matter how much you try. He is soverign and will always remain soverign.

When the “Prayer of Jabez” was so popular and it seemed as if everyone was buying the book, praying the prayer, so that their territory would be expanded. They repeated the prayer over and over without any results. Why? I say, because for most people it was a selfish act, done out of an attempt to get material gain from the use of the WORD. As believers we’re to seek Christ got Himself and not what we want.

“Now Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that You would bless me indeed and enlarge my border, and that Your hand might be with me, and that You would keep me from harm that it may not pain me!” And God granted him what he requested.” 1 Chronicles 4:10

crowd of people bwThe reason I chuckled to myself at them in the dream was because they are taught bad doctrines and have so little understanding of their purpose in the Christian walk. False knowledge leads to false expectations, which leads to discouragement, making their journey a “long damn road”. The song they sang in the dream is very appropriate for the way most of them feel if they were to be truthful. In the dream the man I spoke with sensed in his spirit that something wasn’t right in the church service. People were going through the motion, acting like they were experiencing the move of the Spirit, when inside they were weary from the effects of the years of false doctrine. Weariness had set in because they had seen no results from what they have been taught.

I’ve seen small and large prayer circles formed where the charismatic leaders would pray aloud saying, “Lord, we turn to the north and call in the blessing and provisions of God, we call in the people into our house and the wealth of the wicked into our hands…” Then all the people turned to the north and repeated the prayer. This action was repeated for the east, south and west as well. It sounded good and looked to be spiritual but it didn’t bring forth any obvious results. It was selfishly motivated and spiritually ignorant of the plans and purposes of the believer in Christ.

True blessings come from living a life as described in the verse below:

    “Do not let kindness and truth leave you;
    Bind them around your neck,
Write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 So you will find favor and good repute
In the sight of God and man. “ Pro. 3:3-4

In other words you cannot obtain things by misuse of the WORD.  It is a matter of becoming like Christ by abiding in a continual intimacy with Him. It’s about RELATIONSHIP! Christ doesn’t want to increase you, He wants to reduce to to nothing so He can fill you with His Spirit. Jesus did not pray for the sick, He healed them. He did not pray for someone’s deliverance, He delivered them. Why, because He was ONE with God and in God. He was the WORD made flesh.

I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. JN 15:5,7

There are no shortcuts with God and there is no other way but Jesus Christ. He is the WAY.  He is a person and He wants us to be so close to Him so that we become like Him in our lives. We won’t and cannot be a savior but as we draw close to Him, His Spirit permeates our spirit and His presence is upon us more and more. Then when we minister in the gifts of the Spirit it isn’t a thing we do, but it is Jesus in us ministering to the people. Smith Wigglesworth and John G. Lake are two men who come to mind that pressed into the presences of God so much that as they ministered Christ ministered to the ones in need. They spirit was permeated by the Spirit of Jesus Christ. When Smith Wigglesworth prayed no one could stay in the same room with Him. He was permeated with the Spirit of the Lord. Once when he stepped onto a train immediately after praying a man asked him, “Who are you and what are you?” That’s power came from spending time in the presence of the Father.

hands raised cryout smallToo many, for too long have chased after the gifts of the Spirit, but not after the GIFTER of spiritual gifts.  They have followed after the anointed ones instead of becoming anointed themselves. All the past spiritual movements ended up with the formation of an organized church system of some type. The 1906 Azusa Street revival broke out and traveled the globe, touching so many by the outpouring of Holy Spirit, but eventually ended up becoming the Pentecostal Church system. The main reason this happens is that the people focus on the experience and not the person of Jesus Christ. They pursued the gifts and not the gifter. The three disciples on the Mount of Transfiguration wanted to build three tabernacles and camp out there as if it was an end all be all experience. Jesus was going to lead the disciples beyond the transfiguration experience. He was yet to say the words “Eat My flesh and drink My blood.” He wanted them to consume Him and by doing so He would consume them. He would permeated their spirit with His.

“Six days later Jesus *took with Him Peter and James and John his brother, and *led them up on a high mountain by themselves. 2 And He was transfigured before them; and His face shone like the sun, and His garments became as white as light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. 4 Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, I will make three tabernacles here, one for You, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” 5 While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased; listen to Him!” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell face down to the ground and were terrified. 7 And Jesus came to them and touched them and said, “Get up, and do not be afraid.” 8 And lifting up their eyes, they saw no one except Jesus Himself alone.” Matt 17:1-8

Jesus is a person, not an experience. He wants each believer to have spiritual experiences and you will if you will seek Him to know Him in a personal relationship. But we don’t seek Jesus for the experiences. The multitudes followed Him for food only. He wants people to come to Him in sincerity, letting go of all pretenses, and surrender to Him with an intense desire to know Him.

When a believer quits moving (growing) forward toward Christ they become a sentimental Christian, living off past experiences, which leads to traditionalism in the body of Christ. Jesus prevented the disciples from taking a spiritual experience and turning it into a shrine. Instead, He said to them to keep it to yourself for now and let’s move on because I have more to show you about glorifying the Father with in this life.

He has greater plans for your life than just trying to be spiritual. He wants you to come to Him and abide in His presence so He can infuse your spirit and do the “GREATER WORKS”.

  • The Lighthouse

    Journal Entry

    Date: 2/12/12

A lighthouse on top of a cliff at nightWhile in prayer and meditation time, I asked the Father, “How can the indwelling of Christ be in someone and at the same time they are deceived, in error in their doctrines, and priorities?”

Then the Father showed me a vision of a “lighthouse” in the dark of night.

He said, “The pursuit of Christ requires a firm effort to continually root out the truth from the lies. When a person allows another person to lead them then they become their leader. If the leader is blind to the truth, then they become blind to the truth as well. If they follow a righteous man they will be taught to seek Me out and truth will come to them.

The difference is like the “Lighthouse”. Do you look for it yourself or are you looking to another to find it for you? Most people are too lazy to search the darkness for the appearing light themselves. Even if they do for a season they soon give up and return to their usual habits of letting someone else do it for them.

Seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened, ask and you shall receive. For all My truth is available to those who are sincerely seeking truth. Indeed, the days have become darker and the spin doctors are ever present in your news reports, and none are to be trusted for each one has his own agenda and axe to grind. In the end you will feel all but hopeless. However, a timely word from the Lord will bring great joy and comfort.  Seek Me out and you will find Me. The invitation is open to all who are hungry and thirsty.  The multitudes gathered for a meal but My disciples gathered to Me for understanding. Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and its righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.

Many seek Me in the storm when desperation drives them away from themselves long enough to find comfort in My arms. Just as soon as the storm becomes silent they leave the safety of My will and return to their folly.

The days ahead are filled with trials of all kind. They hearty will find their courage challenged and their strength to faultier. The compression of the culmination of the age will be intense as I bring the final judgment upon evil. Only those hidden in My arms will survive the time known as Jacob’s Trouble.”

Now come – come all, for I have a place of rest for you. I do not turn the hungry away.

    Your Father

When sailing the waters a night, a person must find where the lighthouse is located to avoid the dangers of the rocks and reefs. You scan the horizon, straining your eyes to see its light, which will guide you safely from the dangers hidden by the darkness.  Most people are too lazy to search out the lighthouse for themselves. They would rather have someone tell them where the lighthouse is than put in the time and effort to find it for themselves.”

The end result of a life lived like this is they sail aimlessly along in the darkness, dependent upon others for their information, and live selfishly unconcerned about the dangers of not knowing for themselves and the others they could have helped along the way.

Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12

Lighthouse BeaconOne of the most wonderful experiences in Jesus Christ is that we can have a personal relationship with Him. We can ask Him questions and listen to His wisdom as He teaches truth to us. I consistently have asked God questions about things of which I wanted to have more understanding. Often the questions are triggered when reading the Bible.  The Holy Spirit will illuminate a particular verse revealing God’s heart to us so we can see what God is truly saying in the text.  Sometimes Holy Spirit will reveal a mystery of God in dreams or vision, or perhaps catch one up in the Spirit and take them to a place to show them a mystery.

“I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know, God knows—such a man was caught up to the third heaven.” 2 Cor 12:2

He is the Lighthouse. He is the one we should seek out to direct our lives. Without Christ in our lives we are a drift in the dark sea of life, aimlessly headed for the rocky shore.

For You light my lamp; The LORD my God illumines my darkness. Ps. 18:28

The lazy person relies on someone else to teach them about God. Many sit in church all their life and listen to a preacher after preacher speak about things in the Bible but never really seek out God on their own in a personal relationship.

For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil. Heb. 5:12-14

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. JN 14:26

The Father did not give us Holy Spirit so we could remain a drift in darkness in our life. Instead, we have freely been given access to Holy Spirit to teach us, lead, and counsel, exhort, encourage, correct, and empower us into mature believer in Christ.

  • To Be With Him

    Journal Entry: 9/9/2010

Dream: Just To Be With Him

kitty quiet time smlI was driving down the hi-way and was half-way between two small towns. I pulled my vehicle off to the side of the road onto the grass and got out. I walked to the rear of the vehicle and saw my cat (named Kitty) who is a dear family member.  She apparently had walked fifteen miles to get where I had stopped my vehicle. At first I didn’t like it that she had left her safe home until I realized how much she just wanted to be with me which was displayed by the great effort it took to come be with me. I picked her up in my arms and put her in the front passenger seat. She sat up tall and gleamed with joy because she was with me and I was very happy to be with her as well.

Then the scene in the dream changed and I was sitting in the front passenger seat of my natural father’s vehicle. I always loved being with him although he didn’t speak that much to me. I was just so happy to be with him as he steered the vehicle onto a side road to show me things he found interesting. I looked over at him as he rode with his elbow sticking out the window and he pointed out things he wanted to show me; I loved every minute of it. Somehow, I knew he enjoyed it as much as I did.

    End of Dream:

    Meaning of dream:

The dream is about how our heavenly Father loves for us to come to be with Him.  As much as I was touched by the effort my cat made to be with me, so does our heavenly Father appreciate our effort to be with Him. The thrill I felt when I realized that my cat risked everything by coming so far to be with me melted my heart. She gave up her safety, comfort, resources and family to follow me; I was so touched. The Lord impressed upon me that this is how He feels when His children come just to be with Him in fellowship.  He loves us being with Him and looks for those who will come spend time with Him. Few will make the effort but those who do are greatly rewarded.

Many times when I have been before the Lord I experienced the supernatural things of God which would not have happened if I hadn’t disciplined myself to spend intimate time with Him. Many people are seeking the supernatural of God but aren’t seeking Him for Him alone.

I can remember just sitting in the same room with my natural father just because I wanted to be with him. I wasn’t necessarily expecting anything from him each time but when he did open up and share mysteries of his life it made me want to know him all the more.

Our heavenly Father is much like that in regard to wanting us to be with Him and if He chooses to open up, you will want to keep coming back time and time again to be with Him, wanting to know Him all the more.

I promise you if you will make the effort to be with Him in a steadfast, faithful manner, He will reveal Himself at a time of His choosing. After all He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.” Heb 11:6

Jesus taught it is necessary to deny ourselves and follow Him which is key to knowing the things of God. He also declared that we will be known by our fruit.

priest praying“A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit.” “Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”So then, you will know them by their fruits. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many  miracles?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.’ Mat 7:18-23

How do you get to know someone? You spend time with them as often as you can. You exchange thoughts and learn about one another. Over a period of time you build a relationship that truly is wonderful and unique. We hear how it is important to know God and most take that to mean read the Bible and learn about Him but that is only part of the equation. Jesus makes it clear in Matthew 7 verse 23 that he will declare to them, “I never knew you”.

I can read about the president of the country but that doesn’t mean I know him. I only know about him. However, if I spend time visiting with him, eventually I can say I know him and he knows me.

Relationship is the one thing that is threaded into God’s word from Genesis to Revelation. From the beginning of man in the Garden up to now God is looking for people who want to know Him in a true relationship. That is what it is about…RELATIONSHIP! When the Lord showed me Mat 7:18-23 some years ago and what He would do with those who use Him to self-promote their ministry I heard Him clearly say to me, “It’s about RELATIONSHIP”! I have kept true to that revelation ever since no matter what I’m going through I go through it in a pure relationship with my Lord.

I believe relationship is the one key thing that is missing in the messages preached today. Relationship is the true foundation of walking with God and being pleasing in His sight. In a few verses just after Jesus said, “I never knew you” He teaches about building your house on the rock so you can stand when the floods come and they will come.

Relationship goes beyond just knowing the scriptures because He is the incarnate Word. Just knowing the Word won’t keep you from perishing in Hell but being known intimately of God will. If you read the book by Mary K. Baxter, “A Divine Revelation of Hell” you will never be the same person again. You will be amazed at the revelation which she brings from her journeys there and how many lost souls speak scriptures in the flames of their torment. You can search the Internet and find the book, audio or soft copy version. The Start of Audio version: Part 1 of 14.

Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.” Mat. 16:24

And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me.” MK 8:34

relationshipAnd He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.” But He said to him, “Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God.” Another also said, “I will follow You, Lord; but first permit me to say good-bye to those at home.” But Jesus said to him, “No one, after putting his hand to the plow and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.” Luke 9:59-62

Jesus spoke about the sower of the seed and how the devil would come to steal the Word of God from the heart. The rocky ground is where the roots of the seed couldn’t go down deep enough to survive the heat and dry climate and the thorns which grew up to choke out the plant representing the cares of the world.

We live in a busy world and have things on our plate but we must make time to be with the Father. It is the key vital part that is missing in most Christians walk. Many people try to substitute attending church as being with the Father but that isn’t the same. Is being in a public meeting with your spouse the same as being alone with them in an intimate setting?  Of course not and neither is your public display intimate time with the Father. It can be part of your walk but God never intended it to replace time alone with Him.

He wants us to come and desires it more than we know. Think about how you feel when your spouse, kids, dear friends or pets come to you just to be with you and how that makes you feel. Now imagine how the Father feels when you come to be with Him for no other reason than you just want to spend time together. Relationship is the true foundation of the believers walk and truly isn’t an option with God. Think about that statement for a second. If you want the things of God you have to be known of God and that requires a relationship with Him.

I hope you will make the necessary changes to your walk and make relationship with Him a priority. It will forever change you!

Be Blessed In a Fruitful Relationship with Him,

    Bro. Bill

  • Oh That I May Be With Him

One of the strangest lessons in this life must be that hardships and problems draw us closer and closer to our Lord.

with himWhile still mourning the death of my mother, I was in the process of moving my oldest brother into suitable living arrangements.  My brother is mentally challenged and has been my “inheritance” since our mother’s death.  Naturally I was feeling sad, lonely and anxious from the stress, the decisions to be made and clearly the physical labor of moving.  I felt completely removed from my normal routine and wondered if my life would ever resemble what it used to be?  Would my life ever have a purpose or a destiny?  It appeared esteemed people around me had  a calling on their life; they had ministry positions and compared to my seemingly sad and boring life day-after-day, they looked to be important.

While talking to the Father about these thoughts and feelings, I imagined myself to be of no use to Him, I felt I wasn’t working for the Kingdom and somehow “letting Him down.”  Quietly I said to Him, “Lord, I just want to be used by You, to do something for You.”  Quickly, Holy Spirit responded to me, “I have lots of people doing things for Me, what I need is someone to be with Me.”  Those simple yet profound words thrilled me; He wants me to be with Him!  These magnificent words changed my life and changed the way I saw myself from that moment forward.

The Father desires a relationship with you.  No longer is there a wall between you and God, you have access to Him, He desires for you to spend time with Him, getting to know Him.

“Jesus went up into the mountain, and called to himself those whom he wanted, and they went to him.  He appointed twelve, that they might be with him, and that he might send them out to preach, and to have authority to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons.”  Mark 3:13-15.

“Father, I desire that they also whom you have given me be with me where I am, that they may see my glory, which you have given me, for you loved me before the foundation of the world.   Righteous Father, the world hasn’t known you, but I knew you; and these knew that you sent me. I made known to them your name, and will make it known; that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them.”  John 17:24-26

bench afarJournal entry: Lord I’m thanking You for opening doors for my brother a nice house to live near us and for him to be safe and happy.  I’ve felt really sifted during this process of mourning Mom and taking on the responsibility of my brother. Sometimes a part of me wants my old life back!  I’m afraid and weepy today but I keep my eyes on You Lord and I won’t LET myself be troubled, I won’t LET self pity come on me, I won’t lose heart or lose faith in You.  You will never leave me or forsake me.  When I feel like this, I do not need to think or mull things over, I don’t need to seek pity from others, I just need to be still and quiet and look to You.  So, I stay on the alter under the knife and I will my mind to shut up and to offer praise, thanks and prayers unto You, for I know You have a plan for me and for my life for a hope and a future (Jer. 29:11).    I am weak in myself but strong in You Lord.

I visualize bringing my cares and laying them at Your feet, I see You touch the top of my head lovingly and I crumble at Your feet.  I hear You telling me, “Shhhhhh.”

My friend, St. John of the Cross said, “The deeper my faith = the closer my union with God.”

“Experience with God only comes by pressing in and abiding in Him.  He wants purity of heart, not gifts without fruit.”  It’s not about religion, it’s about relationship.”  Neville Johnson

    Be Blessed In Him,

  • Influence – Matthew 10:35

influenceThursday morning March 5, 2009, when in quite time, I heard the Father say one word to me, “Influence” and then He gave me the scripture Matthew 10:35. He was teaching that His influence must be preeminent in our lives over that of a father, mother, mother in law. All acquaintances must take a back seat to Him. The entire verse speaks of influence. Since the beginning, God used His spoken word to influence matter and create the heavens and the world. This word is a vital key for the preparation of the Bride of Christ! When you think about it…It’s all about influence and Jesus wants to have influence with His children, His Bride.
Jesus Came to Be Our Source of Influence:

He came to inject His influence more than even the most important people or relationship in our lives. Today Jesus wants to teach us about influence.

    Influence means:

    1. The act or power of producing an effect without apparent exertion of force or direct exercise of command. b. corrupt interference with authority for personal gain. c. the power or capacity of causing an effect in indirect or intangible ways. To sway means use a controlling influence. Merriam – Webster Dictionary

So many times in the gospels of Matthew through John the phrase, “and He began to teach” is used. Jesus began to exert His influence to the His disciples and all who would come to listen to Him. Jesus came to show us the Father and by teaching the word of God and by His life the world was never the same since. It’s been almost two-thousands years since Jesus was crucified and His influence changed the world forever.

If you want to go on with God and follow Him then you will eventually have to end some acquaintances which have influenced your life in worldly, ungodly ways or have the potential to influence your life instead of Christ.

You will have to end your connections with old familiar things such as houses, occupation, cities, identities and most people your formerly knew.

“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. “And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. “He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it. Mat. 10: 33-39

peopleJesus is teaching that His ways, wisdom, purpose and direction for our lives must have preeminence over man’s influence. His influence must take preeminence over any outside influence or interference. Most often family, friends, society, media, governments and the like will influence you in their ways, their tradition, their understanding instead of allowing you to be totally influenced by God’s ways.

An example of influence is how children’s political beliefs usually align with their parents political beliefs. If your parents were democrats, it is more than likely you will align your beliefs to that particular party. If your parents were republicans, you’ll most likely lean to the Republican Party.  This holds true to religious beliefs as well. If you were raised Roman Catholic, Protestant, Baptist, Church of Christ or some other religion you are most likely to follow their doctrines instead of the full gospel message as taught to by Holy Spirit. In other words let Holy Spirit influence you instead of the doctrines of man’s theology. If you do you will soon discover new truths that you never saw before and the walk in Christ becomes even more real, exciting and fun.

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you. JN. 14:26

    Opinions or the Word:

When someone asks you what your opinion is about a matter it is vital that you point them to what the word of God says and not your own opinion. Many believers will and can only discuss a matter through their theological understanding or their church doctrine. When I asked the Father what theology meant to Him He responded with, “Its man’s attempt to explain what he doesn’t understand.”

Often when a person has a, “renewing of faith” experience more times than not they will go back to the same religious affiliation in which they were raised up in. In some cases what God has ignited in their hearts begins to fade due to the teaching, doctrines and understanding of man and Christ influence dwindles.

Jesus told the Pharisees when they applied their influence upon a person (proselyte) that they would make them twice the child of hell as they were.

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as yourselves. Mat. 23:15

Jesus’ Yoke of Influence Brings Rest:

“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest.”Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Mat. 11:28-30

    Satan’s Influence:

antichristAfter Jesus told the disciples that he would suffer, be rejected by the elders, and be killed and rise again then Peter took him aside to rebuke him.

And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. And He was stating the matter plainly. And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him. But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and *said, “Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.” And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross (and begin dying to self) and follow Me. Mat. 8:31-34

It is a safe saying that wherever there is sin in our life there is an evil influence working against us.

“for our struggle isn’t against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual (forces) of wickedness in the heavenly places. Eph. 6:12

“And through his shrewdness He will cause deceit to succeed by his influence; And he will magnify {himself} in his heart, And he will destroy many while {they are} at ease. He will even oppose the Prince of princes, But he will be broken without human agency. Dan. 8:25

    Deluding Influence:
To those who will not (refuse) receive the love of the truth at some point God will send upon them a deluding influence and they will believe the lie of the Satan and his antichrist and false prophet. This spirit is at work already in the world today. It is a strong spirit and will over power all who don’t know the truth of God’s word and walk in a personal relationship with Him.

{that is,} the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders,  and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 2 Th. 2:9-11

    Religious Influence:

Christian influence is a good thing. With few exceptions nations that are not founded on Christian beliefs fall behind in education at all levels, science, quality of life and religious freedom is suppressed and democracy is non-existent.

As Christian we are to be doing our best to influence the people and the world around us with the example of our life, our faith, our joy and love.

We have allot of competition for souls today, perhaps more than ever before in the history of man. If the church doesn’t wake up soon and let Christ once again influence it, it will become more irrelevant than it already is.  Christ warns us to come out of the worlds influence.

babylon”I heard another voice from heaven, saying, “Come out of her, my people, so that you will not participate in her sins and receive of her plagues” Rev. 18:4

By forbearance a ruler may be persuaded, And a soft tongue breaks the bone. Prov. 25:15

But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas and to put Jesus to death. Mat. 27:20

“And the master said to the slave, ‘Go out into the highways and along the hedges, and compel {them} to come in, so that my house may be filled. Lk. 14:23

And some of them were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, along with a large number of the God-fearing Greeks and a number of the leading women. Acts 17:4

“You see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in almost all of Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away a considerable number of people, saying that gods made with hands are no gods {at all.} Acts 19:26

But the centurion was more persuaded by the pilot and the captain of the ship than by what was being said by Paul. Acts 27:11

Some were being persuaded by the things spoken, but others would not believe. Acts 28:24

But when I saw that they were not straightforward about the truth of the gospel, I said to Cephas in the presence of all, “If you, being a Jew, live like the Gentiles and not like the Jews, how {is it that} you compel the Gentiles to live like Jews? Gal. 2:14

Those who desire to make a good showing in the flesh try to compel you to be circumcised, simply so that they will not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. Gal. 6:12

    World Influence:

God clearly tells us in the bible not to allow the things of the world to shape our beliefs and stain us. The word conformed means to “conform one’s self to another’s pattern.” This is done by allowing the other pattern to influence our mind and character instead of God.

The world influence blinds a person from seeing the light of the gospel and making friendship with the world is an act of hostility toward God.

media“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” Rom. 12:2

“in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” 2 Cor. 4:4

“And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.” Eph. 2:1-3

You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. James 4:4

    Influence to Cause to Stumble:

“but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a heavy millstone hung around his neck, and to be drowned in the depth of the sea.” Mat. 18:6

There’s no healing for bad behavior nor is there a prayer line in which you can get in that would possibly every remove bad behavior from you. It doesn’t exist.

Jesus taught cut it out of your life! Paul said, “Stop sinning!” A good example of bad behavior is critical words, judgmental attitudes, combativeness, lying, coarse jesting, jealousy, hatred, anger, strife, dissensions, envying, carousing and all manner of works of the flesh. These are all choices we make each day.

Renew your mind to what the word of God says and cut off all bad behavior.

“If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into hell, into the unquenchable fire, Mar. 9:43

Become sober-minded as you ought, and stop sinning; for some have no knowledge of God. I speak {this} to your shame. 1 Cur. 15:34

    Social Influences:

Social influence occurs when an individual’s thoughts or actions are affected by other people. Social influence takes many forms and can be seen in conformity, socialization, peer pressure, obedience, leadership, persuasion, sales, and marketing. Traits such as charisma, reputation(credibility), beauty, wealth, peer pressure, position such as a good job, a platform such as politician, movie star, star athlete, celebrities, status as well fame all can be used to exert social influence.

  • Is God Humorous?

Is there proof in the scriptures that God has a sense of humor?

In Exodus 32:7 Then the LORD spoke to Moses, “Go down at once, for your people, whom you brought up from the land of Egypt, have corrupted {themselves.} In v.37 Then Moses entreated the LORD his God, and said, “O LORD, why does Your anger burn against Your people whom You have brought out from the land of Egypt with great power and with a mighty hand?

It appears that the LORD was messing with Moses’ head by not claiming any responsibility for these people. A study of the entire history of this story it is quite evident that the miracle of deliverance from Egypt was scripted and empowered by the LORD.

Read some of the humorous stories that clearly show our God does indeed have a sense of humor. Thanks to those who submitted their funny testimonies for this blog.

On one trip my wife and I had spent most of the day in waiting line either to eat, park our car, at customer check in or boarding the vessel. Once on board an in our room I said to God, “This would be allot more fun except for the lines” He immediately responded with, “There’s even a line to get in heaven”. BN

A lady caught me in the hallway of the church and excitedly began to tell me this story about what God had done and all the things that were happening in her life. As she spoke I listened carefully but didn’t hear where God was in anything she had said. After she walked away I said to God “I didn’t get much out of that!” I heard Him say “Me either!” I just laughed as I walked away. BN

At church one night, the preacher seemed to me to be quite ‘flamboyant’ and I told the Lord, “He really is a show-off.” After service, I climbed on my Harley motorcycle and as I left the parking lot, I ran through my five gears as loudly and as quickly as I could. I heard Him say to me, “Is he a show-off, sort of like you?” JN

God had been training me for some time about speaking into people’s lives…He said “It’s very important that you not only SAY the specific words I said…but that you say them IN THE WAY I SAID THEM. If you leave out the compassion or the authority, the message won’t have its full effect in their lives.” I said “Yes, Lord, but I don’t ever want to be SO COMPASSIONATE that I don’t speak tough words when I need to! I don’t want to go too far on the side of gentleness!” He said “You’re not in ANY danger of that!” I laughed because I have never been known to be TOO GENTLE…quite the opposite at times. WM

I was praying for a girl I had been spending some time with that was making poor choices in her life. I was very fervent in prayer, crying, speaking Word over her. I said, “Father, I have such compassion because I WAS THAT GIRL! I remember being where she is & making those choices she’s making! I have felt WHY she’s choosing it and I understand the bondage involved. OHHHH I REMEMBER HOW THAT FEELS!” He said, “Well, you should! It wasn’t that long ago!” I cracked up because He is so funny! WM

For a period time God would wake me up at 3:33 AM and I would seek Him as to what I He wanted me to do. One morning He woke me up at 3:22 AM and I was puzzled as to what this meant. I asked God “Father what does 3:22 mean to you?” I heard Him say “Its eleven minutes before 3:33AM!” I cracked up at His humor. The next morning He woke me up at 3:44 AM. I starred at the clock and just burst out laughing and said “God I don’t even need to ask.” BN

When in a Prayer Service & saw a vision of myself standing with my arms held out behind me. There was a thick substance dripping off of me. I said “OH wow….Lord, is that ANOINTING dripping off of me?!” He said, “No…not yet….that’s the OLD MAN!” WM

On the one anniversary of my survival of a motorcycle accident, where I should have died but miraculously walked away, I just wanted to honor God for His mercy and faithfulness in a very special way. Should I go into my secret place to pray and praise Him? What should I do? So I said, “Lord in ten minutes it will be one year to the day that I survived that awful wreck. I want to honor you in a special way so what would you like me to do?” I heard Him say “I want you to out to the garage in ten minutes and start up your bike and rev it up three times as loud as you can just to let the Devil know you’re still alive and well”! That’s exactly what I did. I rejoiced and praised Him for being the awesome God we serve! BN

About 8 years ago, after a long 5 years staying in offence and reaping much pain and loss in spiritual growth……..and in a “financial hell”….I had occasion to “go there” (to “offence”) again. God said to me as clearly as He has ever spoken to me. He said….”that is an expensive trip…and you can’t afford it.” Oh, how very true….I’ve never forgotten it…..and thankfully have chosen to never make that “trip” again! Hallelujah! B

I was moving a small podium from where it was placed and as I lifted it and sat it down I said, “Father, holy righteous hands have touched this podium” and then I heard Him say, “And just did”. BN

I had been hearing allot of things from God over a period time years ago and one morning during quiet time I asked God for a scripture. I was all excited when I heard Him say Proverbs 12:3. I hurriedly opened my bible and turned to the verse to see what God was saying to me. Proverbs 12: 3 reads, “A righteous man has regard for the life of his animal, But {even} the compassion of the wicked is cruel”. I cracked up laughing because I had promised God I would feed the fish in my fish tank the night before and forgot and went to bed. So a righteous man must take care of his animals…BN

Well a few things really stick out more than others so I will tell those. During a time in my early walk with the Lord, Jas and I were living in the little church we pastored. I was in a time of really seeking who God was in my life cause I had always know him (in religion) to be this strict deity who was just “waiting” for me to fall so he could put some disease on my or something…shabush….He was showing me a side of Him that was quite the contrary. In quiet time, I would hear him chuckle…then I would chuckle because He was chuckling. I learned to have fun in the presence of God and laugh with him in those times. During that same time I was asking about moving out of the tiny little Sunday school rooms and perhaps find an apt or house to rent. Wanting to stay in His perfect will for my life I went to Him. In tears I sought His face for guidance and finally, ever so gently I heard him say, “Psalm 23″. Being a familiar passage I began to quote it and he said, “No, read it…” I was obedient and quickly looked it up and my eyes were lead to the bottom part of the passage as it reads,” 6Surely* goodness and mercy* shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.*

I actually heard him giggle inside and say, “Not really….” We moved the following week….JS

I heard one speaker recently tell of how once told him while he was in the pulpit preaching to “livening it up at bit down there, you’re boring us up here!” His method of delivery changed from that day forth.

God’s not religious, stuffy, boring or any of those kind of things. He’s alive, refreshing, vibrant and He has a great sense of humor.
