Seer of God
I am a seer. I see pictures and images, mainly in dreams and visions. These are messages which God wants to convey to me through seeking the counsel of God. When God desires, a seer/prophet may hear His voice, thoughts, or impressions (knowing), then record and prophesies the message. The main difference between a prophet and a seer is that a prophet will hear what God is saying more than see it and speak it forth where a seer sees more through dreams and visions but also can hear God and prophesy the message as God allows. The ultimate purpose of a seer is to “reveal” the mysteries of God to the body of Christ or to the nations.
I believe it is natural for Christians to walk in the supernatural and do it without being weird or flaky! Unfortunately, many don’t understand the supernatural of God because they are afraid of it. I used to have a fear of the supernatural. I have experienced enough of the supernatural to know God has endless levels of the supernatural of which He can allow a person to experience as He wills.
Upon one occasion, in 2002, I sensed God wanted me to go lie down and meditate. When I laid my head down I sensed God was taking me out of my body. I was about to go on a journey. It frightened me! I cried out “No LORD!” Immediately the sense of rising out of my body lifted. God showed me that my fear of the greater supernatural things of God limited Him. I was too fleshy and soulish to allow Him to take me on a spiritual journey. I haven’t experienced anything like that since, but I want too.
He isn’t like us! He is Spirit. God is supernatural. He desires each believer to embrace and be trained in the supernatural things of God by experiencing it, so we can discern the bad (evil) supernatural when it manifest. In these end days, discerning of spirits will become all the more important because many false spirits are in the world and more are coming.
“And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelist, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:11-13
When a seer is called, he usually will have had an encounter with God, which initiates the walk of the seer. Often the seer or prophet doesn’t realize what their ministry gift is for quite some time. I didn’t realize I was a seer until an experienced prophet prophesied over me, revealing I was a kindred spirit to his like calling. This was a key word or an “ah-ha” moment and that explained some of the things I had experienced earlier in my life.
My mother told me on several occasions that when I was born there was an angelic presence which came into the delivery room. As a child, I had glimpses of knowing things that there was no way I should have known. When I was seven years old, I was kicking a football in the backyard, one kick landed in the field next to our fence and in a vision I saw an 1895 Liberty V nickel and heard a voice that said “1895 Liberty V nickel”. I had never heard of anything but a buffalo head nickel, but I saw it and I knew it was under that football. I ran over to where the football had landed, picked up the football looking to see the nickel. Sure enough, just as God has shown me, the nickel was there. I picked it up and ran into the house and showed my mother the unique nickel. I explained to her exactly what had happened and asked her what was all this about. She just looked at me and said “I don’t know son…I don’t know.”
Years earlier, in that same location, I heard voices carrying on a conversation, but couldn’t understand it’s content. I went from one side of the field to the other in an attempt to locate the source of the voices. When I got to one side of the field, the voices sounded like they were coming from the other end of the field. I kept trying for some time before giving up my pursuit. Later in life, I discovered that on that day I had been hearing with my spiritual ears. It was supernatural.
In 1974 while on a trip with some friends to Boulder, Colorado, we encountered a severe snow storm just as we entered into Colorado Springs. The snow plows couldn’t keep up with the massive amount of snow and the highways were impassable. We had no choice but to spend the night in a motel on I-25 and wait until Raton Pass, between Colorado Springs and Denver, opened back up. I woke up the next morning, which was Easter Sunday and went to the window to look out at the snow. The snow had covered the mountains beautifully, but suddenly an open vision of blood running down the mountain appeared. I heard a voice whisper into my right ear “Jesus Christ whiter than snow.” I quickly closed the curtains with a “swoosh” so as not to see the blood of Christ flowing down the mountain. For the first time I had heard God. He was real and I had just had an encounter with Him. Later that day, road crews cleared Raton Passed and we completed our trip to Boulder. During the remaining time on the trip, I kept pondering the events that had occurred. I had encountered the God I had been seeking to find for years.
On the following Tuesday after work, I was in the backyard of my parent’s home where I had grown up. Suddenly a very powerful presence entered into the yard, approaching me from my immediate right side, getting stronger and stronger by the second. It was so HOLY! It was the righteousness of God! I knew immediately I was a sinner. I dropped to my knees and gave my life to Christ right then and there. As soon as I did, the presence left the yard the same way it had come in. No one had to preach a word nor did anyone have to lead me in the sinner’s prayer. I realized the spot where I received Christ and years earlier seen the vision of the 1895 Liberty V nickel were the same. Perhaps God had just connected the dots.
In the Old Testament the seer/prophet did some pretty weird stuff as they had to literally walk out, as an example, what God wanted to show the nations. Noah built a large boat to escape the flood to come when it had never rained before (Genesis 6). Forty-two young boys repeatedly called Elijah “baldheaded” and cursed them and then two she-bears came out of the woods and tore them to pieces (2 Kings 2:23-24). Isaiah went naked for three years to show Egypt would be taken captive by the Assyrians (Isaiah 20:3). Jeremiah hid his waistband (underwear) in a crevice of a rock at the Euphrates River to show He was going to ruin the pride of Judah, and the great pride of Jerusalem(Jeremiah 13:4). Jeremiah placed bonds and yokes on his neck to show Israel God would protect them under the servitude of Nebuchadnezzar and not to listen to the false prophets in Israel (Jeremiah 27, 28). Ezekiel laid on his side for 390 days (Ezekiel 4:12), shaved his hair, divided it into three parts. God instructed him to burn one part in the city, one part he struck with a knife and the third part he cast to the wind to show Jerusalem how they shall be judged (Ezekiel 5:2), Hosea married a harlot to show Israel’s unfaithfulness (Hosea 1:1-5). John the Baptist lived in the desert living off of bugs and wild honey (Matthew 3:4). There are many more examples in the Old Testament prophets and the strange things God had them do to as a witness against the nations. To me is shows the love of God that He will go to the extremes to speak to people of the nations if they would only heed His warnings.
The New Testament seer/prophet doesn’t have to do crazy things like that or do they? I know from my own experiences that often God walks me through situations so I will understand the depths of what He wants revealed to the body of Christ or to the nations. Many of the articles on this blog came from being placed in circumstances so I could walk out what He wanted revealed. This article is a perfect example of being placed between God and a nation. In this case it is America.
In many cases when I travel to a new region I will discern what spirit or wound that is affecting the area. In one large city the occult is hiding from plain view but it continues to inflict disaster on the population. One region I visited in the south had a witch spirit tormenting the people of God as well as unhealed wounds from the civil war, which hold the people back in being totally free in their lives. Where I live it is the spirit of poverty and worship of man, which is idolatry and very evil.
Jesus entered the Gerasenes, His presence stirred up the man from the tombs, which had many unclean spirits (Legion). Legion wanted to drive Jesus from the region and it’s no different today. When a prophet comes into a region, the anointing of God will stir up darkness in the region and the prophet will discern what spirits are affecting the area.
Like a prophet, the seer has a key role to play in equipping the body of Christ for the times which we are in for where there is no vision the people perish. The seer/prophet can bring the message given by God so the body has a better understanding what the Spirit is saying for the times they’re in. I strongly feel there has not been a more critical time than now to know what God is saying to the believer.
Unfortunately, many in church leadership reject the ministry gift of the seer/prophet choosing rather to continue in the same old beaten down agenda. Today, there are few if any true seer/prophets functioning within the circles of organized religion. However, Christ will have His bride, and the seer/prophet will play a key role in preparing her for the coming of the Lord. The seer will show her the “Way of the bride and the path to the wedding lead to Zion (Christ)” in these last years of the age.
I challenge you to stretch your faith and understanding in God. I have walked without God and I have walked with Him and I tell you that walking with Him is far better. When I repented I told God that I would serve Him if He would be supernatural, exciting and fun in my life. I am glad to say that He has more than lived up to my expectations.
Jesus trained His senses to feel the virtue flow to the woman with the issue of blood. We should ask God to train our senses as well. It’s part of growing up from being a baby in Christ to becoming an effective warrior.
“For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.” Heb. 5:13-14
God likes to demonstrate His wonders to His children! In fact I have a very personal relationship with God; we have become close friends, closer than a brother. He shares secrets with me from time to time. I have found He is the most beautiful, loving, kindest, gentle, caring person I have ever known. I invite you to come along with me as I share the insights He gives me from time to time.
